How do I apply for postgraduate study (Master/ PhD)?
Application can be made online through the following website: https://apply.uum.edu.my/onlineapp/app_login.aspx
Can I make the postgraduate application manually?
No. Only online application is accepted.
How long is the application process approval will take?
Application for study by research will take one month of processing, while mixed-mode and coursework will take two (2) weeks.
How would I be able to know the status of my online application?
Your application status can be viewed by accessing to the online application system (https://apply.uum.edu.my/onlineapp/app_login.aspx); the same website used for your admission application.
When can I expect to receive the offer letter after the application?
Offer letter will be processed and sent within one day to the applicant upon approval from the related School.
Do I need to submit the hard copies of my documents after the online application?
Applicants do not need to submit the hardcopies of the documents as all documents must be uploaded during the online application. Failure to upload the documents will result your application to have “Pending” status.
How much is the processing fee?
The amount of processing fee is RM100 (for Malaysian applicant), USD35 @ RM125 (for Asian countries applicant); USD50 @ RM175 (for applicant from non-Asian countries) and the proof of payment must be uploaded in the online application.
How do I make the processing fee payment? Can I pay by cash?
Method of payment for processing fees are as follows:
- Online payment in favour of Universiti Utara Malaysia at https://e-com.uum.edu.my/
- At any Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) branch. Specify payee code 340 in the column “Pay For” on the Bill Payment Slip. Complete the slip with the following details:

When is the opening and closing date for next semester’s application?
Postgraduate Programme Admission Application Closing date are as follows:

I have not obtained the final result; can I use the final semester examination slip in my application?
Yes. Applicant can upload the final examination slip in the application. Applicant also need to update AHSGS by sending the expected to complete official letter from the University upon obtaining the final result.
Is it necessary to upload the bank statement? If not, will the application still be processed?
It is compulsory to upload the bank statement to complete your application. Failure to upload the document will result to your application to have pending status.
My CGPA is below the admission requirement, can I apply based on my working experience?
Yes. Related working experience can be considered for additional CGPA.

How many intakes are there in a year?
For Postgraduate studies, UUM offers three times students admission (January, May, and September) every year.
Can non-Malaysian apply for part-time mode?
No. Only Full-Time Mode is offered to non-Malaysian.
If I have working pass in Malaysia, am I eligible to apply for part-time study in UUMKL or Sintok?
Yes. However, the application is subject to any rules currently enforced by the University and other related authorities.
If I do not possess MUET/IELTS/TOEFL certificate, can I apply to further my study in UUM?
Yes.
Do I have to find the supervisor prior to my application to PhD programme or Masters by research?
No. Supervisor will be assigned to the applicant based on the applicant’s field of study.
